Just try to think... 95% of prepers plans to go to retrieve location. It must be done as soon as TEOTWAWKI occurs. Prepers are better informed so they would be out of cities before the big riots would even start. At the beginning, riots and violence will focus on cities (as people tend to beleive the situation is only temporary and they will only loot some improvement for the better times). When some parties would focus on highways, you already would be off them, if not already in your retreat. And in case your retreat is good, no raiders should focus there. So you should be armed to hunt, to defend yourself against accidental looters/raiders, but certainly it is useless to be armed to fight a semimilitary group capable of returning surpresive fire... And as majority of population is against guns, it would take some time to arm the raiders up, and then, again you are going to be in retreat already, off the roads. And there you are going to rather need nails and screws to repair your equipment and buildings, rather than a gun... And for hunting a (cross)bow and traps would be far better as the sound of shooting from a gun could show off your position to a bypasser, who would otherwise not realised being anywhere close to you...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892342121119950405.post-48208021464705435252013-09-23T10:09:14.836-05:002013-09-23T10:09:14.836-05:00The ww2 era ruck was small on purpose so it would ...The ww2 era ruck was small on purpose so it would only hold about 5 lbs. of stuff. They also had a gas mask. Soldiers carried their ammo in belt pouches. On the other hand, the M-1 Garand weighed about twice what the M-16 or AR-15's do nowadays.Blog Authorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08294787592544255585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892342121119950405.post-32406822846712207412013-09-23T10:01:56.345-05:002013-09-23T10:01:56.345-05:00You don't carry all that ammo at once. Standa...You don't carry all that ammo at once. Standard army fighting load is 210 rounds (7 30-round AR mags, 1 in the rifle and 6 in pouches). You would carry more in a ruck or daypack. And if you have vehicles, yeah, more.

The weight soldiers are carrying these days can easily top 120 lbs. with ruck, armor, and fighting load. In my opinion it's way too much weight for someone to have to run with. Especially when they get women into combat, they'll have to lighten up on some of that stuff. But if you are defending your own home or stomping ground, you can stash some gear/ammo around the place in hidey holes.Blog Authorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08294787592544255585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892342121119950405.post-40469656929252404942013-09-18T12:38:52.109-05:002013-09-18T12:38:52.109-05:00Ummmm.... in the vehicle you're driving? Quite a bit, but hardly an insurmountable weight. 223 ammo is 2.69 lbs per 100 rounds for example.godinluchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12495550740433549789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892342121119950405.post-78884840006722914572013-09-18T08:52:45.933-05:002013-09-18T08:52:45.933-05:00I guess me question is, in a combat situation, how...I guess me question is, in a combat situation, how do you even carry 1,000 rounds plus survival gear? Even in the worst conditions ever, where you have to defend yourself constantly...how many rounds do you REALLY need. What's the likelihood that you would ever use that many?,,
Sounds like you have never done sims/drills on supression fire during a peel off operation to break (not engage) enemy contact with 6 people on your team. If you are really, really good, you clear 1000 rounds and get everyone safe. It takes a while to get, and stay, that well trained. The rest of the time, you run out of ammo with only half the team in cover and... well... maybe buy the nails and screws first. Or after you expend the 10k rounds.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892342121119950405.post-22719183100733337802013-09-18T00:52:48.396-05:002013-09-18T00:52:48.396-05:00Dear Zachary,
